- Hurricane Katrina Devastates the U.S. Gulf Coast
In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck the U.S. Gulf Coast, causing catastrophic damage to New Orleans and surrounding areas. It initially made landfall in Florida as a Category 1 hurricane on August 25, and then struck Louisiana on August 29 as a Category 3 hurricane. The storm led to widespread flooding and extensive destruction. Katrina became the costliest hurricane in U.S. history and resulted in significant loss of life. Due to its unprecedented devastation, its name was retired from the hurricane naming list.

Formation of Domica CaveThe Domica cave is a karst cave in southern Slovakia, part of the Domica-Baradla cave system.
